Château Simone Palette Blanc 2018

Provence is one of the most incredible areas for wine. It is known for great rosé and regions such as Bandol, and Les Beaux de Provence. There is a lesser-known area with so much character, and it is a quiet secret of sommeliers around the world. Château Simone is from Palette, a tiny appellation nestled into the hills of Provence. Their reds age and are so glorious to drink, but their white wine is something we get so excited about. This wine is a blend of Clairette, Bourbelenc, Grenache Blanc, and Ugni Blanc. Clairette is the primary grape and is the main grape used in the notable wines from Vieux Télégraph. It has richness, but this minerality and texture which reminds me of great white wines from Château Haut-Brion in Bordeaux. This is a wine that when we recently poured for a wine class caused silence in the room because people were so enamoured by the wine.
