Château de Pez is one of those wines which takes me back. It is like hearing a song that brings you back to a special moment in time. This has all the makings of quintessential Bordeaux, without having to jump into the fray of having to spend First-Growth prices. Château de Pez is one of the oldest properties in Bordeaux’s Left Bank and consists of 118 contiguous acres with 103 acres planted to prime grape varieties, mainly merlot and cabernet sauvignon. Thanks to the quality of its production, Château de Pez is counted among the most highly reputed crus of the Médoc.

Rich and complex, this wine maintains the balance between density and harmony, power and refinement, race and the precision of its tannins. This is when an almost 50/50 balance of Cabernet and Merlot comes together in true harmony. This region of Bordeaux was dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon for a long time, but most finally realized that the clay soil gave the Merlot power like a good Pomerol. That combined with the structure of Cabernet, and the truffle, and olive aromas of Cabernet Franc you have yourself a Super Group.
